peacemaker
Iazamir “Zamir” Gotta is best known as the eccentric traveling companion of American Chef Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channels’ No Reservations and CNN’s Parts Unknown. Since his early years working as an interpreter throughout Russia and abroad for the Soviet Union, Zamir finds himself adventuring into unknown and often dangerous places. Working as a fixer and producer during Soviet times, Zamir cut through red tape with a stiff drink and a good story. While an interpreter for a Soviet power plant in northern Iraq, Zamir helped the Soviet and Kurdish workers weather Sadam Hussein’s bombings of the area by setting up a vodka bootlegging operation.
Zamir has always found that a good bottle of vodka will lead to good stories, and telling and listening to good stories leads to peace. His name in Russian translates to “I am for peace”. Through conversations, generous pours and a top shelf product, Zamir hopes to be a peacemaker one shot at a time.
